Few wildlife experiences can compare to encountering our primate cousins in the wild. Uganda is home to one of the last remaining populations of mountain gorillas, and meeting these gentle apes up close is an unforgettable and genuinely moving experience. Uganda is also an excellent destination to encounter troops of chimpanzees, our closest living relatives.

In addition to visiting gorillas and chimps, we’ll explore Murchison Falls National Park for other wildlife, such as giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, crocodiles, and hippos. We’ll also visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see Uganda’s only wild rhinos and cruise the mighty Nile River for a unique photo perspective. Uganda also has wonderfully colorful birdlife, including the odd-looking Shoebill.

Highlights

  • Two days of mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Get up close with mountain gorillas in one of the world’s richest rainforests — framed and guided for photographers, so you’re ready for breathtaking portraits the moment they appear.
  • Two days of chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest. Spend multiple days with wild chimp troops where behavior and interaction are frequent, giving you far more photographic opportunities than a one-hit chance.
  • Opportunities to photograph the unique Shoebill and other fantastic birdlife. Photograph the iconic shoebill and Uganda’s vibrant birdlife with guides who know the best blinds, lighting, and timing for dramatic avian imagery.
  • Safari in Murchison Falls National Park plus Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Blend classic African wildlife with rare rhino encounters — curated so you get variety and gallery-worthy shots across habitats.
  • Boat excursions on the Nile River. Photograph the mighty Nile from the waterline at golden hour — a perspective most other workshops don’t plan for.
  • Photo instructors who specialize in jungle and safari environments. We don’t just take you to the wildlife—we help you make stronger images in challenging light and dense forests through hands-on mentorship every day.
