Each spring, Point Pelee becomes one of the most exciting bird photography locations in North America. Warblers, tanagers, vireos, flycatchers, thrushes, orioles, and other migrants funnel through this narrow point of land at the western end of Lake Erie, often dropping into the trees at eye level after crossing the water overnight.
For bird photographers, it can feel like controlled chaos in the best possible way.
We have spent years scouting Point Pelee and nearby Rondeau Provincial Park to understand where the birds tend to appear, how light moves through the habitat, and how to help photographers react quickly when the action unfolds. This workshop is designed to help you come home with stronger bird images, more field confidence, and a deeper understanding of spring migration photography.

Highlights
- Small Group, Better Learning – With a very limited group size, you get more personal instruction, more space to work, and more help when the birds suddenly appear where everyone wants to be.
- Prime Spring Migration Timing – We run this workshop during the first weeks of May, when Point Pelee is at its best for species diversity.
- Years of Scouting Behind the Scenes – We have spent years learning the best trails, hotspots, and nearby wetland locations so we can make the most of each day as conditions change.
- Hands-On Bird Photography Coaching – Kevin works with you in the field on seeing the bird, finding the angle, controlling the background, and making the most of brief opportunities.
- Evening Image Review and Processing Help – Each day does not end when the birds quiet down. We also look at images, talk through what worked, and help you improve for the next morning.
- Species Checklist and Learning Focus – You will receive a species checklist so you can track what you identify and photograph, turning the workshop into both a creative and educational experience.
