Autumn in Japan is a beautiful season for photography. As the leaves turn red and gold, join in the favorite Japanese pastime called momijigari, meaning “red leaf hunting.” This ancient tradition became popular during the Heian period (794-1185 A.D.), and momijigari remains popular to this day.
Japan holds a special place in our hearts. One of our co-founders, Kevin Lisota, has lived and worked in Japan and loves to share the wonders of this country with others. Even our name, Akari, reflects our love of Japan. Akari is the Japanese word for illumination or brightness.
We’ll photograph ancient temples, bamboo forests, manicured zen gardens, and dramatic landscapes surrounded by colorful foliage. We’ll photograph Mt. Fuji at its most perfect and visit the ancient capitals of Kyoto and Nara. We’ll also experience Kanazawa’s charming history and culture and have time for some of the world’s best street photography in Tokyo.
This trip will depart in November 2027.
