Our Zimanga photography workshop in South Africa brings together wildlife encounters, purpose-built photographic hides, small-group game drives, and personal instruction. With exclusive use of the entire game reserve and lodge, we shape the experience around your photography, from the first field session to the conversations over dinner.

Limited to 15 guests, this workshop gives you time and support to develop your skills. We work alongside you to help you read light, anticipate wildlife behavior, refine your compositions, and make confident decisions as scenes unfold. Classroom sessions and image reviews build on what you photograph each day, helping you see what’s working and where you can improve.

Zimanga’s hides put you at eye level with wildlife, creating opportunities for intimate portraits and moments you might otherwise miss. Overnight hide sessions, when conditions allow, reveal another side of the reserve after dark. On game drives, there’s space for long lenses, opportunities for low shooting angles, and the patience to stay with a subject as the light or behavior changes.

Having the reserve and lodge to ourselves gives us the flexibility to plan field sessions, meals, teaching, and image reviews around our photographic opportunities. There’s time to work a scene properly, ask questions, and put what you’ve learned into practice.

• Exclusive use of reserve and lodge – Our group has exclusive use of the entire reserve and lodge, giving us control over the schedule, vehicles, hides, and daily rhythm of the safari. We build each day around light, wildlife behavior, and photographic opportunity.
• Maximum 15 guests, 2 photography instructors – With a strong instructor-to-guest ratio, you receive hands-on help in the field, in the hides, during classroom sessions, and through image reviews.
• World-class photography hides – Photograph wildlife from purpose-built hides designed for low angles, clean backgrounds, and close encounters, including overnight hide sessions when conditions allow.
• Private game drives built for photographers – Game drives are planned around photography, not general sightseeing. We focus on light, behavior, positioning, backgrounds, and giving photographers room to work properly.
• A complete safari learning experience – This workshop combines field instruction, classroom learning, image reviews, lodge comfort, excellent wildlife opportunities, and professional guidance throughout the entire safari.
